Sales have declined in the porno industry over the past few years because of piracy and the volume of free videos provided on the various tube sites. Webcam girls buck this trend and are able to make a comfortable earning from their work.
A young woman named Melissa shares her perspective on the industry after having worked as a model for a few years. When asked about it, Melissa said, “I realised how much the guys received compared to the girls and it is completely mutually beneficial”. In 2013, the New York Times estimated the webcam industry to be worth about $1 billion or more.
Melissa told us that the typical day in the life of a hostess involves sending messages during the day, updating her profile with self-created photos or images, and devising marketing approaches to attract more clients and increase revenues. Melissa was able to earn $10,000 per month. This was a full-time job that enabled her to work from home.
Melissa discusses the pros and cons of the job, which can be both emotionally and mentally exhausting and difficult to manage. While some may view this work as controversial, Melissa did it easily.
